The Guernsey Pound (GGP) is the official currency of the island, issued by the local authorities but pegged at parity (1:1) with the British Pound Sterling (GBP). The term “pound” comes from the Latin “libra,” a unit of weight used in the Roman Empire and later adopted as a monetary name in the British system.
